About Us
At Portland Animal Rescue Connection (PARC), we believe that animal rescue is stronger when we work together.
We are an all-volunteer nonprofit organization based in Portland, Oregon. Our mission: to empower and assist animal rescues across the state through resources, education, and community-driven events to improve the lives of animals in need.
Why We Exist
Rescues do life-saving work every day, but they’re often stretched thin — overburdened, underfunded, and isolated from one another. We created PARC to be the bridge that connects animal rescues to each other, to community members, and to the resources they need to thrive.
Our role is to uplift the people on the front lines of rescue and help them do even more for animals in Oregon.
What We Do
At PARC, we create opportunities for connection, collaboration, and capacity-building within the rescue ecosystem:
Event Programming: We organize fundraising and adoption events for rescue organizations across the Northwest, raising both dollars and awareness.
Networking Opportunities: We bring together rescue staff, volunteers, and fosters across organizations to share knowledge, build relationships, and strengthen the regional rescue network.
Resources and Support: Together, PARC’s co-founders possess decades of experience in animal rescues and shelter operations. We help rescues access the training and tools they need to grow sustainably and serve animals more effectively.
Animal Rescue Advocacy: We raise the visibility of rescue work and the challenges animals face — helping the public, policymakers, and media understand the importance of supporting local animal welfare efforts.
Our Status
PARC is organized as a nonprofit public benefit corporation under Oregon law.
PARC’s application to the IRS for tax-exempt 501(c)(3) status is pending. Our EIN is 39-2584615.
